The Music at our Milongas
We’re really keen on playing the very best possible mix of Tango music at our Milongas. In fact, it’s a bit of an obsession. Most evenings when Charles isn’t dancing he’s working on his music collection; adding tracks, reviewing favourites, searching for better copies, and updating tags.
You’ll find that the music at all our milongas is traditional tango from the ‘Golden Age’; approximately 1935 to 1955. As usual, it is played in tandas, in TTMTTV sequence, 4 tango tracks, 3 milongas, and usually 4 vals.
Artists you can expect a lot of are; Biagi, Caló, Canaro, D’Arienzo, Di Sarli, Donato, Demare, Fresedo, Lomuto, Malerba, Orquesta Typica Victor, Rodriguez, Tanturi, & Troilo. Oh, and if Sarah gets her way then you might occasionally have a tanda of Rodriguez Foxtrots to mark a special event.
Things you won’t hear played at Eton are Sassone, late De Angelis, late Troilo, Varela, and Gotan 😉 And we don’t much like Chacarera either, sorry.
